Meridian, Miss. Two Meridian students were recognized Friday for their outstanding achievements in vocational and technical skills training.
East Mississippi Business Development Corporation presented Head of the Class awards to two of the top performing students at Ross Collins Career Center.
Jeffery Alfred won the award for Highest Overall Achiever and Marquez Ford received the award for Most Improved. Both students received prize packages for their efforts.
Not only are the awards meaningful to the students, but they show the dedication students put forth to better themselves.
"That child that's the highest achiever in their class was motivated to achieve that and it gives them great pride," said EMBDC president, Wade Jones. "But it may be that the child that showed the most improvement is the one who really appreciates this award even more."
EMBDC bestows the awards on students at Meridian and Lauderdale County high schools.
