Lauderdale County, Miss. It's once again the time of year to file for homestead exemption.
Homeowners can receive homestead tax exemption benefits, as long as you meet certain requirements. There are additional exemptions you might be eligible for if you meet certain requirements.
Lauderdale County Tax Assessor James Rainey says this is a great opportunity to save money, but you must apply by the April 1st deadline. The tax assessor's office will also be open additional hours on certain Saturday's for your convenience.
"But the great thing is we've instituted having one Saturday in January, February, and March that we're open from 8 to 12 to better serve the taxpayers of Lauderdale County," Rainey explains.
Those Saturday's will be January 25th, February 22nd, and March 29th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. If you have any questions about homestead exemption or your eligibility, you can call 601-482-9779.
