A Clarke County deputy seriously injured in a car crash last month is said to be making progress.
Quitman Mayor Eddie Fulton told Newscenter 11 that Deputy Glenn Cook is now home and recovering.
Cook was responding to a call last month when a vehicle apparently swerved into him, forcing him to take evasive action to miss the vehicle. That caused Cook's vehicle to crash into a tree.
Fulton says it is a miracle that Cook survived.
"You saw the car, you don't know how he made it out of there," Fulton says. "But, we've all prayed for him. We're happy and he's doing much better. And it's going to take him a little while to recover, but he's strong. Got a big heart, so he'll be back with us."
Fulton says Cook previously served as an officer for the Quitman Police Department.
