50 year old Allen Brown is accused of attempting to rape a 79 year old elderly female at her New Hope residence Sunday night. Brown had been doing some work around her house earlier last week before forcing his way into her home on Sunday. Kemper County Sheriff James Moore says that it's a miracle she was able to fight him off considering she had been in the hospital recently following heart surgery just 2 weeks ago.
"According to her, he took his pants down, pulled hers down, and was forcibly trying to rape her. She used parts of his body, twisted it, and led him out of the house. On the way out of the house, she grabbed her butcher knife on the counter, and that's how she defended herself.
This is not Brown's first run-in with the law for this type of crime. In 1998 he was charged and convicted of raping his grandmother. He served time for that and was put on the sex offender registry upon his release, but that's not all.
"When we looked into this case, we noticed there was a case with him in 2009 with us where the subject dropped the charges, so it appears to me that this gentleman has a serious problem."
Sheriff Moore says that this is one of the more shocking cases he's seen, and that his department will continue to investigate.
"It is a bizarre case, but when looking back, this subject has been imprisoned before for the charge of rape. We're going to continue to gather evidence, everything we possibly can, and present it to the next grand jury."
Brown remains in the Kemper/Neshoba Correctional Facility with a $5,000 bond.
