Kemper County Sheriff Cautions Drivers

Updated: Mon 12:14 AM, Jun 18, 2012

Kemper County Sheriff James Moore says all drivers in the area need to be cautious of wide loads being moved through the area following the death of a truck driver this past week.

That death is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The Kemper County Coroner has identified the man as 46-year-old Emery "Hoyt" Ferguson of Willard, Missouri. He was killed Thursday afternoon when the pipes in the back of the truck smashed into the vehicle's cab.

"With all the moving parts in Kemper County, we have so many trucks delivering stuff to the coal mine, vehicles on the road," Sheriff Moore points out. "We'd just like to say to our citizens or anybody that's traveling on highways and byways to just take that extra caution and be careful because there are so many moving parts in Kemper County right now."

Moore says the best advice is for drivers to buckle up and take their time when driving.
