The Mississippi Kidney Foundation is hosting its annual Patient Conference this Sunday in Meridian.
The conference will take place at the EMEPA auditorium on Highway 39 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Patients on dialysis, transplant patients, patients who do home therapy and their family members are invited to attend.
This conference allows patients to ask questions about their condition. Family members can also learn more about what goes on during dialysis.
"We have learned that those patients who are educated more about their treatment, about the reason why they are on dialysis, the reason why their kidneys have failed, actually do a lot better," said Kesha Kidd of the Mississippi Kidney Foundation. "They have a better understanding of their treatment, the importance of doing dialysis, so we encourage patients as much as they can about this treatment and their other options."
Anyone who wants to participate is asked to pre-register by contacting the Mississippi Kidney Foundation at 601-981-3611. People are encouraged to pre-register, but they may register the day of the conference.
