Lauderdale County, Miss. The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department has made an arrest in a case where items where stolen from a homeowner's property.
Jason Lawrence Wilson was charged with burglary of an outbuilding at a residence and a DUI. A property owner in Collinsville suspected that someone had moved items in his barn, so he put up a game camera in the barn and on New Year's Eve caught an image of the suspect taking items from his barn. Based off the image, investigators spotted Wilson in Collinsville and stopped his vehicle and made the arrest.
"It's a great example of someone that's helping us, helping themselves. It makes the case much easier to work, much easier to prosecute because those pictures on the video cameras are not going to lie and in court, it's going to be hard to explain why you are seen walking away with property that doesn't belong to you," said Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department.
Wilson is currently being held without bond in the Lauderdale County Detention Facility. His case will be presented to the next available grand jury.
