MCCSA Accepting Pre-Applications

This winter was mild, but some speculate the summer won't be. That's why efforts are underway now to get locals prepared to deal with the summer heat.

Multi-County Community Service Agency is currently accepting pre-applications for energy assistance from the elderly, disabled and others who qualify.

"You need to put in a pre-application, because when you need the services, you will already be in the system," said Letha Dunn, community services director. "You will not have to wait. You can be out of state and you can log onto the website and fill out a pre-application on behalf of someone else."

This summer, MCCSA will also provide free air conditioners to those who qualify.

To submit a pre-application, log onto the Virtual ROMA (Results-Oriented Management Accountability) website for the Mississippi Department of Human Services. A link is provided below.

I also am partially disabled and I'm also a veteran. My point was not directed at the elderly or people that are truly disabled and need it. The direction of my statement was at people that truly don't need help that steel from the working man and truly disabled and elderly people. That's why our people that truly need it can't get it. By the way I don't park in handicap spaces but I could if I wanted disability because I was told I could get it but I chose to work. My wife is fully disabled also but there are people that are worse off than both of us so we park in normal parking spaces. Point is disability is abused by tons of people that truly don't need help but just want a handout. I'm also a guy that has helped elderly people pay for their medicine because they could not afford it because the government does not take care of them. Make sure you understand what's being said and the reason behind it before you assume something. On and by the way you can also thank me for fighting for your freedom so you can get on here and assume. I have a heart for disabled people and the elderly but I hate that because alot of people abuse it the people that truly need it don't get it. I sympathize with you. I live in pain every day but I go to work and don't steal from people like you that deserve it

I have been trying to pre-register at the site listed, but everytime I enter my information of what I make, I can't go any further. It reads error. I am not making any errors. I believe it is their site. They need to check it.

Well, "whats the matter". seems to me that having a PC with internet is a "want".... not a "need".. and Im sure that if you can afford to buy a Computer to complain on, you can afford your utility bill. You could sell you PC and buy an air conditioner, if you were really that desperate.

Another form of income redistribution. These folks take their money and buy beer and cigarettes and go to the casino then expect the government to feed, clothe, supply their medical needs and keep them cool. What happened to looking for a shade tree and getting you a fan ??

Yeah and to all you working folks that pay taxes so we can do this. We're not going to spend 3 or 4 thousand dollars to help make your home energy efficient even though you can't afford nothing but a mobile home and can't afford to make your home energy efficient because you work and pay taxes. We only help those that don't work and make no money. You know the government gone take care of them. As soon as I get my home payed for I'm gone quit work that way I can get all these upgrades then go back to work.

@Lee, I have heard enough ignorance! I worked my whole life and paid taxes. Unfortunately, in the prime of my life, I find myself confined to a wheel chair and the daily tasks that you so easily take for granted almost impossible to perform, even on a basic level. It begrieves me to no end that I cannot make all the repairs to my home myself, nor have the income to pay someone to do so. I would most gladly go back to work and allow you the privelage of my situation as you seem to desire. Please keep your prejudices differentiated and hope and pray the Good Lord does not see it fit for that to happen. Disability is not the happy-go-lucky lifestyle you portray it to be. BTW, are you one of the ones that park in handicap parking spaces or abuses the decals? Ignorance is a disability also you know.
