A job fair held in Philadelphia Feb. 27 has produced great results, according to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
Thirty-eight employers participated in the event held at Neshoba County Coliseum .
Officials say those businesses collected 1,065 resumes from over 950 job applicants.
They conducted 355 on-site interviews and made 127 job offers the day of the fair.
“A successful job fair is the result of collaboration between local representatives and my office,” said Adam Todd, Governor’s Job Fair Network director in a news release. “In this case, we had a lot of local partners, which led to some great outcomes."
Employers project they will hire another 474 people from this job fair in the coming year.
The Kosciusko Attala Development Corporation, the Leake County Development Association, Mid-Mississippi Development District, Winston County Economic Development Association, East Mississippi Business Development Corporation, the Community Development Partnership/Neshoba County and the Neshoba County Board of Supervisors, who offered the facility for the job fair at no charge, were credited with making the job fair successful.
