Mississippi State University-Meridian is celebrating a $90,000 grant.
The Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning presented the grant Wednesday.
The money will be used to train 24 Meridian School District teachers for grades six through eight.
The teachers will learn new ways to encourage middle school students learning, using critical thinking and problem solving skills.
"MSU Meridian is absolutely thrilled with the opportunity, not only for the funding, but for a chance to take some of the initiatives put forward by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning and pass those along through the university to the public schools," said MSU Meridian dean, Dr. Steve Brown.
The Summer Institute will be June 19-July 19 at the university's College Park campus.
