Meridian, Miss. Meridian police say they responded to a shooting Wednesday around 2 a.m.
According to the city's police report, a 45-year-old man, who had been shot several times, was found lying in an area only described as 'Redline'.
Newscenter 11 later learned the location was a field near Enterprise Funeral Home, 3207 11th Street.
The police said the victim was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Witnesses, who did not want to be identified, told Newscenter 11 another man was hit by a stray bullet when shots were fired into the residence across the street.
One says she was sitting on the porch when bullets started flying, grazing her sleeping husband inside.
"It went through there, and hit my old man while he was in the bed. It grazed his back," she said. "And I guess the bullet exploded, when it hit my cabinet in the kitchen, because I got spinach everywhere. It just blew the cans up. Right there. It came through there and went straight through the wall. It went in here and there."
The woman says her two young daughters were also asleep in the home at the time of the shooting.
