Dothan, Ala. The first human trafficking case in Alabama ended Wednesday with a man sentenced for trafficking a Meridian teenager.
Santiago Alonso, of Tennessee, was convicted in May in the kidnapping of a Meridian 17-year-old, taking her to Memphis and Dothan, and forcing her to work as a prostitute and take drugs.
The unidentified teen told the jury she escaped from a Dothan motel and walked to get help.
Alonso was sentenced Wednesday in Dothan to 50 years in prison on human trafficking and drug charges.
