Two suspects are being sought in connection with a shooting and attempted robbery Thursday night.
Police responded to 2201 9th Avenue around 10:30 p.m. where community and civil rights leader Roscoe Jones, 65, was shot as he walked from his car to his house.
Officials said Jones was attacked by two young black males dressed in hoodies and blue jeans with their faces covered. They attempted to rob the man of his car but were unsuccessful and shot Jones once in the back as they fled the scene on foot.
Police said Friday that Jones was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was later released.
