Thursday was the National Day of Prayer and a service was held in Meridian in conjunction with it.
Dozens of people took part. The event included both prayer and music. Organizers say this event was especially important considering an important civic function set for next week.
"What a time to have prayer, just before Tuesday's elections," said coordinator Dorothy Lloyd. "So that we can lift up our leaders to the Lord, and ask them to bless Him and ask Him to put into office who He would have to be in office."
The Day of Prayer event in Meridian is usually held on the lawn of city hall , but was moved to the Arts District parking garage because of the weather.
