The death of a contract worker at Mississippi Power's lignite coal power plant in Kemper County is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

On Friday, Kemper County Coroner Terry Bostick identified the man as 46-year-old Emery "Hoyt" Ferguson, of Willard, Mo. He was killed Thursday afternoon when the pipes in the back of the truck smashed into the vehicle's cab.

According to the Clarion-Ledger, Ferguson was employed since April 2011 by M.G. Dyess Inc., a Jefferson Davis County company that's installing a natural gas pipeline to serve the under-construction power plant.

Rick Dyess, the company's vice president, wouldn't discuss the accident, citing OSHA's probe.

He said the company's work for Mississippi Power has been suspended pending the investigation, which OSHA says could take
several months to complete.
