Optimist Club Makes Donation to Camp

Meridian, Miss. The Meridian Downtown Optimist Club presented a check for $2500 to Camp Eagle Ridge.

The camp is located in Collinsville and serves both able and special needs children.

Camp Eagle Ridge director, Dan Fritts, says most of the money will be used for materials and manpower to build a pier at the camp's lake. Fritts says he is extremely thankful for the work the Optimist Club does.

"The Optimist Club is tremendous," said Fritts. "One of the mottos of the Optimist Club is 'friend of youth', and they are truly friend of the youth. Not only do they talk the talk, they walk the walk."

Camp Eagle Ridge is looking for adult and teenage volunteers for the camp this summer. If you would like to volunteer, you may call 601-480-5503 or visit the camp's website.
