The Mississippi Attorney General’s Public Integrity Division/Insurance Fraud Unit has filed charges against
46-year-old Phillip Willis of Philadelphia.
In a news release, Attorney General Jim Hood said Willis was indicted by a Neshoba County grand jury on three counts of false pretense.
Willis is accused of defrauding four victims in three separate cases of more than $45,000 while doing business as owner/agent of Capital Risk Insurance Company in Philadelphia.
According to the A.G. investigation, Willis is alleged to have taken payments from the victims to cover insurance premiums on their behalf and then never actually doing so, resulting in the victims coverage being cancelled or their having to repay their premium in order to keep from being cancelled.
Willis was released on bond to await trial.
