A campus police officer has shot and killed a student at the University of South Alabama.
The university said in a statement that the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Officials said the suspect attacked the police officer just outside a police department. The name of the officer who fired and the student who died were not immediately released.
The university said there was no danger to the rest of the campus.
