Meridian, Miss. Thursday night's rainy weather forced many local families to make other plans where trick-or-treating was concerned.
Trick-or-treaters invaded Bonita Lakes Mall in Meridian once it was clear the rain was going to make it difficult to trick-or-treat outdoors. Costumes of all sorts lined the hallways as families waited patiently for those sought after pieces of candy.
"My feet hurt, but I'm just glad I get candy," one trick-or-treater said.
The mall's trick-or-treating event wasn't actually scheduled to get underway until 6 p.m., but Newscenter 11 found trick-or-treaters roaming the mall more than an hour beforehand. Not exactly surprising though given the city of Meridian started its trick-or-treating at 5:00. Mall trick-or-treaters only had a few simple rules to follow in order to be able to enjoy the nice, dry shelter. The rules included only trick-or-treating if you're 12 years old or young and adults not wearing Halloween costumes, especially masks. No reported problems so far.
"Just have a happy holiday," another trick-or-treater said.
The event lasted as long as supplies lasted.
