(There is an update to this story, posted Friday, Nov. 16. A link to it appears below this story.)

A Choctaw County, Ala., school bus was hit by some type of gunshot Thursday afternoon.

It happened shortly after the bus pulled away from campus in Butler. A window was struck and shattered.

No students were injured. All on board were moved to another bus for the ride home. An investigation is underway.

Newscenter 11 was able to reach Choctaw County Sheriff Tom Abate, who said the bus was taken to the county barn.

Abate said what hit the window appeared to have been a pellet or some other small size caliber. It was not clear if the incident was intentional or just a stray shot.

The Butler Police Department and Chief Jimmy Huckabee are handling the investigation.
