A local man has been honored for his work in making a downtown Meridian festival a big success.
The Meridian Main Street Festival Board Wednesday honored Andy Smith posthumously with the 2013 Earth's Bounty Excellence Award.
Smith, the owner of Three Oaks Farm, died earlier this year. But organizers of the festival say he played an important role in making it happen and making it successful.
"Andy had been a part of this from the very beginning," said Lofton. "So he was a founder, he was a committee member, he was a vendor, he was a farmer. He was all of the above and he was a tremendous force in making this such a huge success."
This year marked the second year for Earth's Bounty, which is held once a month during harvest months in downtown Meridian.
