Special Olympics athletes from across the area competed in a bowling tournament Thursday in Meridian.
"Special Olympics is used to teach all the children how to be better students and how to work together and to have fun," said Kim Reeves of Northwest Middle School.
Special Olympics is great for these kids," said Jenny Lewis of Meridian Public Schools. "It gives them a chance to get out and to socialize and be able to participate in activities that they might not be able to do on a daily basis, with the extra help they need."
This was the third of three Special Olympics bowling tournaments held over the last three weeks in Meridian.
