Members of the Board of Supervisors and citizens at Monday's meeting talked about upcoming trips approved that will come out of the Board's travel budget.

District 2 Supervisor Wayman Newell spoke Monday night saying he is concerned that this early in the budget year too much money is being spent on trips.

The county is allotted about $15,000 for travel this budget year, with about six months to go in the fiscal year.

County Administrator Joe McCraney says right now, the board is under their travel budget.

VOTER, YOU SAY RAY AND WAYMAN NEVER BROUGHT ANY JOBS TO THIS AREA. WELL, NONE OF THE SUPERVISORS IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS HAVE BROUGHT ANY JOBS TO THIS AREA. MR NEWELL DID NOT SAY HE WAS AGAINST THE TRIP, HE SAID TO MUCH MONEY IS BEING SPENT ON TRIPS THIS EARLY IN THE YEAR. I BELIEVE THEY ARE WORKING WITH A TIGHT BUDGET AND THEY HAVE AROUND 6 MONTHS TO GO. SUPPORTER AND VOTER I DON'T BELIEVE MR. NEWELL IS TRYING TO STIRRED THE POT OR LOVING THE DRAMA. THE POINT HE IS TRYING TO MAKE IS, WE NEED TO WORK WITHIN THE BUDGET. YOU MAY NOT BE OVER YOUR BUDGET NOW BUT THIS DAY AND TIME IT DON'T TAKE LONG TO SPEND MONEY. YOU NEED TO LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE NOT THE LITTLE PICTURE. AND CHILL-OUT ABOUT RAY, HE IS HISTORY!!!!

Now you know everything bad that occurs is Ray's fault and everything good is due to the hard work of our local politicians. Anything else would require that voters hold themselves responsible for reelecting the same old turkeys into office time and time again, and we can't have that!!!!

Oh yall come on now, give Mr.Newell a break, I think he is the only one there that is actually thinking in terms of our tax money! Seems like the rest of them are only concerned in riding around in new vehicles, taking trips and looking big! Mr. Newell is a down to earth guy, and will do anything to help the community!

I want to say thank you Mr.Todd for educating yourself on one of the MAJOR things here in Lauderdale County the Navy Base! The Base is huge for our community and obviously some people dont realize it! If we lost the Navy Base Lauderdale County would be nothing! Our Base is always on the chopping block and I appreciate you for supporting it! *** And to Mr/Mrs Big Spender - you really should proof read your comment before posting it so you wont look so dumb .. Maybe your just jealous that you cant go fly with our wonderful Navy ! And as for his father Dewayne Todd ... he fought for our Base when it was already out the door and closing but he fought with the other board memebers and got it back. And why would you bring up someone thats been out of office for 20 years! If you think that bringing up his father will hurt him ... guess what it wont!! Dewayne and Josh both are good men! Mr. Todd you keep your head high your doing a great job just as your father did! ... I totally agree with you Michelle thats what is wrong with this world people always digging up dirt on someone else when they are covered in their own! ... JD I agree with you also the Base is huge to our economy! ... Voter you nailed it we voted for new leaders and elected them now we have to give them the chance!... Bob I love your comment! I am sure Wayman has made several trips also and he just stirred the pot like you said he must love the drama like his buddy Ray! *** Again Mr. Todd you are doing a great job keep up the good work ***

The core job of a district supervisor is to be there for EVERY resident in their district. I can guarantee you that any resident of district 2 can call Wayman anytime and he will address their issue quickly, that is the job. Someone mentioned the graveyard is clean like its a bad thing, there aren't many supervisors that have something to show for their time in office. Stop pointing fingers and get back on point, they should being doing the job we hired them for first.

Wayman is trying to make himself look good. Generally when someone points a finger at someone else, they are guilty and hiding something themselves? He probably misses all the bickering that went along with the old-famous Board!

Our Supervisors are elected to work with our county Budget, not to go Over the Budget but to stay withn the Budget. And if you don't know how to work within a BUDGET YOU DON'T NEED TO BE A SUPERVISOR.

People, If you think sending Josh Todd on this Virginia trip will bring jobs or will save the Navy Base, you need to thank again. Because our supervisors can't save the Nave Base from closing no more than they could keep other jobs from closing in Lauderdale County. And also the supervisor pay an est. amount of $300,000.00 to EMBDC (Wade Jones) to go out and fine jobs for this county and when the EMBDC located a job, then the EMBDC will bring the job before the Supervisors and they vote. Alway remember if any supervisor or anyone wants to know about the Navy they have something call NAVY ENLISTMENT and the Navy also has a good JOB program.

Now hush about the EMBDC, they do the job they are supposed to, keeping good paying jobs out of the Meridian area!!!!!!!

Well in my opinion, the trip should be taken so there will at least be some kind of involvement by an official to show them that we do care about our navy base and want it to stay here!!!! And if I do recall correctly Mr. Dewayne Todd was also one that was a great deal of help with the navy base!!! It is things like the navy base that brings in a great deal of money to this county an I think we should take great pride and satisfaction of it being here... On my second note, either way it went there was going to be vehicles purchased!! Why go to a auction and purchase something that 99% of the time is totally wore out and you have to constantly put money into it.. That would be called a money pit an then you, " Mr Big Spender" would also have something to say about that..... So the thing I think that would be best is to sit back and let them do their JOBS!!! I mean seriously already judging and they havent even been in office 6 months... I have notice a difference in distric 3 if I must say so myself with some of the gravel roads... Give them a chance, and again, I must say myself Mr Dewayne Todd was a great supervisor...

Hey Big Spender:you are Wrong about Josh Todd, and his Father!Obviously you do not know them. We are in the month of March, and folks are judging this young man.Let the man do his job.

The only thing Josh Todd has done since he got elected is spend money. He's driving a brand new Dodge truck (would not accept an old one like Kyle did). Now he warns to go fly with the navy. I think he might be worse than his father was.
