Suspects in Custody for Two Armed Robberies


Meridian, Miss. Meridian police say a tip from a citizen led to the arrests of suspects in two armed robberies Thursday.

After an investigation, the MPD says detectives charged 20-year-old Jimmy D. Rush and 22-year-old Deangelo R. Ford have each been charged with two counts of armed robbery.

The MPD says the first robbery happened shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday at a convenience store in the 100 block of North Hills Street. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a mask and armed with a gun.

At 7:24 a.m. Thursday, police said another armed robbery was reported in the 2200 block of Highway 19 North. The scenario was the same, with the suspect described as a black male wearing a mask and armed with a gun.

Meridian police say they got a tip around 10:30 a.m. Thursday from a witness that the suspects from these two robberies were shopping at a store on 24th Avenue.

Officers acted on the tip and then took the two suspects into custody.

Rush’s bond was set at $100,000 on one count and $200,000 on the second count.

Ford's bond was set at $100,000 on the first charge and $250,000 on the second count.
