56-year-old Arthur Wayne Townsend, of Forest, pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Townsend will be sentenced Apr. 25. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a $1 million fine.
U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis says the indictment resulted from an extensive investigation that targeted illegal narcotics distribution in Scott County.
The investigation was conducted by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives and Homeland Security Investigations. The Mississippi Highway Patrol, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Forest Police Department, and Scott County Sheriff’s Department assisted.
