Meridian, Miss. The United Way of East Mississippi held its kickoff luncheon for its Pacesetter campaign.
The Pacesetters consist of about 15 companies that set the pace for United Way's annual fundraising campaign.
At the meeting, they learned about the measurable impact of their donations.
The Pacesetters provide between 30 and 35 percent of the financial support in the campaign.
This year, United Way has set its fundraising goal at $1 million.
"It's not all about the dollars," said United Way CEO Thad Quarles. "It's a lot about the sense of the campaign, and the sense that it makes and the value that contribution dollars mean to our community."
Newscenter 11 news director, John Johnson, has been selected campaign chairman for the United Way's campaign this year.
