Community leaders and members meet Friday to discuss the possible closure of the Central Mississippi Residential Center.
Because of financial issues in the state of Mississippi, employees with the CMRC have had to develop a contingency closure plan.
Staff members informed the public of the impact the closure would have and asked for everyone to take action.
"We wanted to make sure that they understood the seriousness of the potential closure; the impact that the closure of this facility would have, not only on the individuals we serve, but also on their town and their counties, and make a call for action," explains Debbie Ferguson, the Executive Director of the facility.
CMRC employees are asking the public to contact their state representatives about the possible closure.
