Police say an arrest has been made in the Wednesday night, after an attempt was made to rob the CEFCO store at 1400 24th Avenue in Meridian. No weapon was used.
Officers say a suspect initially purchased an item and then later came behind the counter and tried to take cash from the register. A bystander intervened and the suspect ended up running away.
The MPD say it was able to quickly identify the suspect as 45-year-old Robert Earl Mack of Meridian.
Officers canvassed the area surrounding the store and located Mack, He was arrested without incident.
No weapon was used this incident and only minor injuries were reported by the bystander who intervened. Additionally nothing was reported taken from the business.
Mack was placed in the Lauderdale County Jail under $30,000 bond.
The case against Mack will be presented to the November 2010 session of the Lauderdale County Grand Jury for indictment consideration.
