Jury Awards $131 Million to Baseball Player's Family

A jury in Jasper County has awarded $131,000,000 to the family of Brian Cole, who died in a vehicle wreck in 2001.

Cole was a standout at Meridian High School and played in the New York Mets minor league system.

The lawsuit alleged that a faulty seat belt design and the propensity of Ford SUVs to roll over after tire blowout resulted in Cole's death.

In its defense, Ford said Cole was speeding.

This PSA video brings attention to just how many first generation Ford Explorers are still on the road putting people at risk. The car has VERY significant flaws and people need to stop driving them! Please watch and share this video. http://youtu.be/PQk1-DJxQzc

enough of the race talk facts are those that are responsible for the actions that occur due to being stupid should never be seen as a victim.. in OJs civil case with a few of you would know the law how it work... the rest i say this if your dumb enough to drink and drive or speed then you get what happens

I know OJ Simpson wished he had some of you on the jury in his civil lawsuit, because the Brown and Goldman family would not have received anything. You all would have told them your children are gone, now get over it. The Cole family will not receive all the 131 million. They will most likely get 25% of it. The lawyers will get the rest. Even if it is appealed the judge may uphold it or reduce the amount, but the company was still negligent and the family will be fairly compensated. So all of you that are extremely upset about the judgment, just get over it, your life will not change and your life will go on.

ooh enough of this fact he was speeding if he was even wearing the seat belt and there is questions on that as fire/ rescue i have seen more then my share of wrecks and not once have I seen someone that had the seat-belt on tossed from or around in a vehicle... this is as bad as one that has a wreck dies then the family sues the state for not having enough signs and preventive things up to stop him/her driving 90_ the wrong way for x miles.. or suing the other family for being on the road that they hit ..

Money is not the root of all evil BIG CHRISTIAN read your bible, "love of money is the root of all evil". I am a christian I don't sue. But if it were the only way to get info to the public about dangerous products or to make a company think about their faulty product. Do what is necessary for other potential vitims. And if some of you had lost a child like we have you might be talking with your hearts than with whatver is in your head.
