Lauderdale County supervisors held a public hearing Tuesday about the new fiscal year budget. It includes a tax hike of 1.87 mills.
It's actually the same amount taxes were cut last year.
Some supervisors say that shouldn't have been done in the first place.
"You have also heard that the board has significantly reduced this proposed budget from the initial request, but is still faced with needing to restore the 1.87 mills reduced in the 2010 budget," District 3 supervisor Craig Hitt said.
Supervisors are expected to vote on the budget, and the tax increase, at a 9:00 a.m. meeting Thursday.
