Investigators in Lake Charles, La., Wednesday released the name and photo of a person of interest in a quadruple homicide investigation there. It's 52-year-old Lee Roy Williams of Meridian.
Officials say Williams spent a lot of time in Lake Charles. But he hasn't been seen for days.
Authorities say Williams, who lived on 35th Avenue in Meridian, was a known crack cocaine user, frequented places known for drug activity and was also a transient moving from place to place.
"We have been made aware of this," said Meridian Police Chief Lee Shelbourn. "We have had people out going to see his residence, see if we can locate him there."
Williams lived in an apartment behind a primary residence. Neighbors told Newscenter 11 it's hard for them to believe Williams would be wrapped up in something like this. But they do say they are concerned that his name is linked to a quadruple murder.
"As far as him living there and quadruple murder ,I couldn't see him doing it himself, though but you never know,' said neighbor Quint McGlothin. "I talked to him a number of times. He would come over wanting to get charcoal, buy your own, but he was kind of quiet, stayed to himself."
Williams does have a criminal past. He has a prior conviction for involuntary manslaughter and breaking and entering in North Carolina, and larceny and forgery arrests in Mississippi.
Officials say Williams was last seen with the four Louisiana victims Friday before the murders and hasn't been seen since.
Shelbourn says he doesn't think Williams would come back to Meridian, but the department isn't ruling anything out at this point.
"You never say never. We have to work under the perception that there is a possibility he's here," said Shelbourn. "Do I think he is here? No, I don't, because he is aware we have his tag number. And I think he is aware we are looking for him. And the most common sense place to look is his residence."
"You would see him move different people here with him, but as far as him being that way, I would have never thought it," McGlothin said.
Williams' vehicle is a 2000 blue Ford Explorer XLT, with Lauderdale County tag LCE 755.
