Authorities in Louisiana have apprehended Lee Roy Williams on the campus of Louisiana State University.
Officials say he was located through cell phone pings.
Williams was taken into custody around 4 p.m. Thursday after a standoff with authorities. There were no injuries.
Williams, of Meridian, is a person of interest in four murders in Lake Charles, La.
Officials said he was still driving the blue Ford Explorer with the Mississippi license plate that authorities had publicized.
KPLC-TV reported that authorities shot out the tires of the vehicle and a short standoff occurred.
Sheriff Tony Mancuso of Calcasieu Parish said Williams reportedly purchased a two-night stay at an Iowa hotel and was spotted in Iowa as recently as Sunday afternoon.
