The victim is the grandson of the accused shooter, 74-year-old Eddie Jean Naylor. She's accused of shooting her adult grandson and his 30-year-old girlfriend during a dispute at her house.
The girlfriend, Lee Ann Temple, died. Naylor's grandson is still being treated for injuries sustained after being shot in the neck.
Naylor herself remains hospitalized in Meridian for injuries unrelated to the ordeal.
"We are looking at possibly presenting this case in the March grand jury, which means if she couldn't meet her bond between now and March, it would've been a huge medical expense for the taxpayers of Lauderdale County," said Sheriff Billy Sollie. "So, all parties agreed to recog her. Present the case and possibly present the case to the March grand jury and possibly set a trial for later next year."
Recog, or recognizance bond, means Naylor would be released without having to post bail.
Investigators say the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting was a small handgun. Sheriff Sollie says deputies have recovered it.
