It was sometime before 8 p.m. Saturday when a 41-year-old female victim was severely beaten at a camp site off Point Wanita Lake Road in the southwestern part of Lauderdale County.
"Based upon the video and pictures I've seen, her facial injuries were extreme," said Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie, describing the victim's injuries.
"At one point in time, she had lost consciousness, was barely able to speak because of her injuries," said Sollie. "But again, we don't believe any of these are going to be life-threatening. However, she did have some severe bruising, swelling and bleeding."
Because of the extent of the victim's injuries, at this time investigators say the exact motive remains unknown.
She was allegedly struck by the suspect with his fists and feet.
As the victim's condition improves, investigators say they will talk with her more about the circumstances.
The suspect is 34-year-old Bobbie Stewart, who authorities believe is originally from Newton County. Once in custody he will face charges for aggravated domestic violence.
Authorities say Stewart is not thought to be armed. Anyone with information on where he can be located is asked to contact the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department at (601) 486-4952.
