The Queen City Fair just started Monday, and parking is already an issue.
Monday night, many people parked along Highway 19, outside the entrance of the Lauderdale County Agri-Center. The Mississippi Department of Transportation announced in advance that would not be allowed, because it's unsafe.
Officials with the Meridian Police Department say they will ticket anyone who parks there.
"We have an obligation to make sure it is a safe environment by not allowing people to park there," said Police Chief Lee Shelbourn. "We are trying to do every thing we can to make sure that it is a safe environment."
Parking is available inside the gates of the Agri-Center, at a cost of $2.00 per vehicle.
