Search Continues for Police Chase Suspect


Police continue to search for a man who fled from them after a chase on Wednesday morning.

Meridian, Mississippi The search is on for a suspect who fled from police on Wednesday morning, resulting in gunfire.

It started just after 7 a.m. An eyewitness tells Newscenter 11 she saw an SUV pulled over on Highway 19 South, near Interstate 20/59. She says she saw officers begin firing at the vehicle. Police say they pursued the suspect, Saber Clayton Knott, into the neighborhood behind Sam's Club. Investigators say Knott wrecked and fled on foot into the woods.

The Meridian Police Department says officers conducted a four hour search in the wooded area, but did not locate Knott. Investigators believe the suspect is traveling on foot. The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department and Mississippi Highway Patrol are assisting with the investigation.
