Barry Reacts to Concession

Meridian Mayor-elect Cheri Barry responded Wednesday to her opponent's concession.

Percy Bland called her to congratulate her. Barry said she and Bland have agreed to work together for the betterment of the city.

"I think this was the first stage of healing our community and getting the people of this community to work together for the betterment of Meridian and all of its citizens," said Barry. "He ran a wonderful race and I look forward to working with him and his camp, along with all of the other people that ran for mayor, in efforts to build this community to where she could be and will be under the next four years of my leadership."

Barry said she's putting together a transition team that will include people from diverse groups within the community.

Barry will be sworn in July 2 at the Temple Theatre. A time has not been announced.

Remember the majority voted for Cheri Barry. We need Cheri Barry to be mayor, not a conglomeration of the ballot.
