Newly elected officials from cities and towns across Mississippi will get a one-day crash course in how to handle their long list of responsibilities.
The Mississippi Municipal League is holding an orientation session Thursday at the Old Capitol Inn in downtown Jackson.
More than 200 aldermen, city council members and mayors are expected to attend. They will hear from several state officials, including Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant.
Most Mississippi cities and towns held elections this month. Officials' new terms begin on July 6.
