Flag Day is one of the least celebrated national holidays, so we set out Saturday to find out what flag day means to you.
Some locals say they believe many don't value celebrating the holiday because a lot of us have forgotten the purpose of flag day and don't understand the significance of the flag. Others say children nowadays are not being taught to have respect for the flag.
"It means being patriotic. It means loving the United States of America. It means celebrating the freedoms that our forefathers and others fought for and it means to me something that I should share with my grandchildren so they will know and continue the legacy of what Flag Day should be about," said Meridian resident Pam Felder said.
