The Mississippi College Board has voted to raise tuition for out-of-state students, but spared state residents an increase.
Officials say the system-wide increase amounts to an average 3.1 percent for eight universities.
Nonresident students at the University of Mississippi will pay the highest increase at 4.6 percent. The University of Southern Mississippi had the smallest increase at 2.4 percent.
Board members also increased room and board for all students.
