Marcy Opens Campaign HQ

House District 82 runoff candidate Bill Marcy opened a campaign headquarters next to Jean's Restaurant on Front Street Tuesday.

With only seven days till the June 30 runoff for the seat, Marcy and his supporters have been doing door-to-door campaigning.

"This time around we're running and focusing on getting out the vote," said Marcy. "The most important thing is we have 10,000 voters in our district. And we're trying to get at least 7-8,000 of them out to the voting places."

Marcy meets Wilbert Jones in the runoff. Voters from District 82 will select the man to fill the unexpired term of the late state Rep. Charles Young. That term runs through 2011.

The only thing sinister about Bill Marcy is the fact that the gov wants control of the house and is paying Marcy to get it. Marcy knows nothing about the people of this area and does not care. He wants an easy job he can get paid for. I hate to see all that the District has accomplished go to waste because we let the fox in the hen house. The race is set like it is because District 82 is very large and mostly black. Republicans know blacks don't go out and vote and figured Marcy would be a shoo in. Well he wasn't and won't be. The fact that he can't go out and mingle at Juneteenth or anywhere shows you he is not for you. I am a registered voter and was standing next to Marcy and he did not even acknowledge me. Instead he reached over and spoke to someone more worthy of his time. Sad on his part.

What I am saying Erik is that he needed to be there campaiging!!!!! If he was there campaiging he did not stay long enough because no one saw him! This has nothing to do with race or D or R. To get votes he needs to be where the people are at. John Harris lost by one vote which proves every vote counts. Get with the people and win that ONE vote that can take you over the edge. As I said before, people in Meridian do not always vote by race or party lines. Marcy NEEDS with the people to win that ONE vote. He will hand it to Jones if he does not get with the people that he will rep in Jackson. Forget Dem or Rep. 82 is a majority BLACK district. Juneteenth and the Picnic are majority BLACK events, HELLO! Talk to your peeps and campaign. Heck Cheri Barry was all over East End. Watch Meridian politics Velma YOUNG, an Poplar Springs will make you or break you each time.

Hey, Voter. Don't you suppose that Bill Marcy could have attended some part of Juneteenth without you seeing him? It went on for hours and in a group of 5,000....you could have missed him. Even if he weren't there, can a person be at every worthy event there is? Hats off to Mrs. Barry for attending. But she no longer needs to knock on doors to get votes. Just because Mr. Marcy is a Republican doesn't mean he only cares about Republicans....or are you as much as saying that Democrats only care about Democrats? Were you saying no Republicans attend Juneteenth, other than Mrs. Barry? How would you know that? Are Republicans only white people? Mr. Marcy is a Republican and he's not white. There are flaws in your reasoning. Why don't you just say you don't want a Republican elected in district 82 and be done with it? Bill Marcy has an 'R' next to his name and you would not like him or vote for him no matter what he does or where he goes.

I may not be able to vote in the District 82 election. But I would put my faith in Bill Marcy. Bill is a christain man who only has the best in mind for those of District 82. Bill will listen too and take to Jackson what the people of this district want. Bill is not playing anyone is this race. He is very concerned for the people of District 82 and for the City of Meridian. I wish Bill the best of luck and that the Lord will lead Bill daily!!

Hopefully I will see Marcy at the Meridian Picnic this weekend. Missed him at Juneteenth with 5000 people in attendance I would have thought to have seen him since he has an election in a few weeks. He is going to need crossover votes to win the election, he better talk to Cheri Barry, she did not win the election only with white republican votes; she had black and democtatic votes also. I saw Cheri Barry at Juneteenth which say a lot, she is already elected and does not need a vote but she let her presence be known in the Black community. Marcy needs to show tha the supports the commnity as a whole and not just the republicans in this area.

Haley Barbour is a Republican. Bill Marcy is a Republican. Who would you expect Barbour to support? There is nothing sinister about that. Gov. Musgrove, a Democrat, would have backed Wilbert Jones, who is a Democrat. That's politics, but there's nothing shady about it.

I see the gov is holding off signing or putting forth any bills until he determines if his chosen in the pocket candidate will win. Marcy should be ashamed to play the citizens of District 82. He is Uncle Haley's chosen one and if do not get out to vote we will all be sorry.
