Police have arrested a man in the shooting deaths of his former girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter and the child's grandmother execution-style in Bolivar County.
Bolivar County Sheriff Mack Grimmett said 42-year-old Harvey Lewis of Rosedale was spotted by a Shelby police officer about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday walking along a Mississippi 32.
Lewis faces two counts of capital murder in the alleged kidnapping and slaying of 44-year-old Michelle Walker and her granddaughter, Janiya Williams.
Grimmett said he is accused of shooting them in the head, then leaving their bodies on U.S. 61 just north of the town of Duncan.
He said Lewis allegedly killed them in an attempt to upset his unidentified ex-girlfriend, who had filed domestic violence charges against him.
