The Lauderdale County board of supervisors gave its approval Tuesday to proceed with building Handy Hardware's distribution center at the I-20/59 Industrial Park.
Board president Hank Florey said that the legal documents have been officially approved by the board. That means everything is now in motion for the development.
"We've asked for the grants for the infrastructure, and that's what will be happening first," said Florey. "Infrastructure, of course, being water, sewer, roads and an entrance way."
Florey said the board has passed resolutions for the East Mississippi Planning and Development District to seek grants, subject to approval by the Mississippi Development Authority.
