Authorities across the South were searching Monday for a man suspected of using a stun gun in the rapes of three women in Mississippi and Louisiana.
T.J. Mobley, a detective with the Hattiesburg, Miss., police department, said federal, state and local authorities were looking for 37-year-old James H. Crockett.
Mobley said Crockett, who has a lengthy criminal history, including convictions for grand larceny and burglary, should be considered armed and dangerous.
Crockett is wanted in a July 6 sexual assault in Hattiesburg in which he allegedly broke into a woman's apartment and used a stun gun and handcuffs to subdue her before the attack.
He is wanted in a similar attack one day earlier in Baton Rouge, La. Mobley would only say a third attack occurred in Louisiana and is being investigated.
