The search is on for a suspect in an armed robbery in Marion early Thursday morning. Officials say the suspect was armed with a 12-inch kitchen knife when he robbed the Shell convenience store off Highway 45 around 2 a.m.
"The subject entered the store demanding the cash from the register. The clerk agreed with him. Opened the register and gave him the cash tray belonging to the store. And the assailant left the store with an undisclosed amount of money, fleeing on foot as far as we know," said Officer Ondray Harris of the Marion Police Department.
The suspect is described as a white male with a mustache and goatee, about 5'9", weighing 200 pounds. He was estimated to be in his mid- to late-thirties.
