And the Young People of Praise Gospel Group warmed up their voices for the group's live CD listening party at the Temple Theatre Sunday night at 6:30 p.m.
Temple owner Roger Smith says he is actively seeking African American cultured shows and YPOP coordinator William Myles says he's glad Smith is recognizing and supporting a market that both he and Smith do not believe has been tapped into yet.
"I love his vision. I love what he's doing because not only is he bringing African American music and culture to the theatre, he's also bringing a lot of local groups and a lot of people wouldn't do that and I'm excited about that," YPOP director William Myles said.
The party will also feature national recording artist Maurette Brown Clark. General admission is $10 and floor seats are $15
YPOP's album release date is tentatively set for August 18.
