Tax Assessments Available for Review

Lauderdale County supervisors have finalized the tax rolls for this year, and taxpayers may now check them.

The rolls are available for review at the Lauderdale County Chancery Clerk's Office.

The public can come by and check to see what value has been assessed to their property.

The deadline is Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. Property owners who don't like their assessment may appeal it.

The last time I tried to appeal an appraisal the final figure was at least a third to a half more than the house could possibly sale for and at least 25% more than I paid for it just before the bottom dropped out of real estate. By the way, an independent appraiser agrees with me about the value and that does not matter in setting value for tax purposes.
