Shell Robbery Probe Continues

Marion Police rolled into town Wednesday night after a thousand mile road trip to get the man they believed held up a Shell station at knife-point July 16. Police say 19-year old Joshua Parker was taken immediately to the Lauderdale County Jail.

Investigators believe he'd been hiding out in Denton, Tex., since the robbery.

"We were fortunate that the TV station showed the footage, and we got several tips," said Police Chief Ben Langston.

Those tips to the Crimestoppers line led them to Parker and they later discovered that he'd gone to Texas with a family member. After staying in contact with a tipster in Texas, they were able to get police there to find out where he was and take him into custody. It's a cross-country investigation the chief of the small town says he's very pleased with.

Parker is charged with armed robbery. Langston said another person could be charged as well.

Joshua is a product of the environment his mom put in front of him. His grandmother and other family memmbers tryed to help him. It is a shame it ended up this way. But his mom should be punished also. God Help him we love him so much.

I knew Josh, he used to visit regularly with his grandmother at the trailer park where I live. He always seemed like a nice, well behaved young man to me and even hung out with my teenage boys. There was one time though he was accused of stealing his grandmother's car. I hope he gets the help he needs
