There has been a second arrest in connection with the armed robbery of a Shell station in Marion July 16.
18-year-old Joshua Parker was returned to Lauderdale County from Texas Wednesday to face the armed robbery charge. Now his mother is charged as well, with accessory after the fact
Marion Police Chief Ben Langston said Katherine Parker had knowledge that the crime had occurred.
Employees at the Shell station say they are relieved the man thought to be the one who held a 12-inch kitchen knife on a clerk has been arrested.
"We are glad that the person has been captured, and hopefully, it won't be done again," said store manager Peggy Rue.
Rue said she believes Katherine Parker should be held responsible for the crime, even though police say she only learned of the robbery around the Vicksburg area as she and her son drove west.
Rue says parental love is no excuse for covering up a crime. But for now she is simply happy to tell her employees that the suspect is off the street.
"It is scary when you work in one any time," said Rue of convenience stores. "But we are very at ease now that the person has been captured and everything."
Joshua Parker's bond has been set at $25,000, while his mother's has been set at $10,000.
