Rush Hospital is working to make sure local residents are aware of the new da Vinci Surgical System.
It features minimally-invasive robotics surgery technology.
Rush conducted an open house at the MSU Riley Center Thursday night to show how the system works. Dr. James Purdy led the seminar.
"So, Meridian, we can be proud, is not lagging behind the country in surgical technique," Purdy said. "We're on the leading edge, cutting edge, of surgery in Meridian, east central Mississippi, as if you are in California, Miami, the northeast, the northwest."
Doctors with Rush say the technology cuts recovery times in half, with about a 90 percent success rate.
